In a surprising turn, Japanese households increased their spending in November compared to the same month last year, according to official figures released on Friday. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported a 2.9% year-on-year rise in consumer spending, defying analysts’ expectations of a 0.9% decline. Month-over-month, after seasonal adjustments, household expenditures soared by 6.2%, significantly outpacing the anticipated 2.7% growth.
