Could the Federal Reserve Lower Rates More Rapidly in 2026?
There is increasing speculation among experts that the Federal Reserve might reduce interest rates at a quicker pace in 2026 than what the market currently anticipates. Recent disagreements among Fed officials highlight that a more aggressive approach to rate cuts is possible. Although the central bank’s official forecasts remain cautious, some members believe that inflation has slowed sufficiently to warrant more significant and swifter reductions. This debate has intensified, especially after Fed Governor Stephen Miran advocated for as much as 150 basis points in rate cuts.
