EU-Mercosur: Council approves the signing of the broad partnership and trade deal
EU Approves Signature of Partnership and Trade Agreements with Mercosur
The Council has given its approval for the signing of both the EU-Mercosur Partnership Agreement (EMPA) and the Interim Trade Agreement (iTA) between the European Union and Mercosur. These agreements represent a significant step forward in strengthening ties between the EU and the Mercosur countries—Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Once implemented, they will create a modern and comprehensive framework to enhance political dialogue, foster cooperation, and boost trade relations. Before these agreements can be officially finalized by the Council, they must receive approval from the European Parliament.
