Wheat Market Wraps Up Week with Modest Losses
Wheat futures are ending the week on a softer note. Chicago SRW contracts are showing slight declines as Friday trading winds down. Kansas City HRW futures are mostly down by 1 to 2 cents, while Minneapolis spring wheat is off by 2 to 3 cents around midday.
Export Activity Update
According to the latest export sales figures through January 1, total wheat export commitments—including both shipped and outstanding sales—stand at 20.228 million metric tons, marking an 18% increase compared to the same period last year. This figure represents 83% of the USDA’s annual projection and aligns with the typical pace for this time of year. Actual wheat exports have reached 15.16 million metric tons, up 21% year-over-year, which accounts for 61% of the USDA’s target and surpasses the average shipping rate of 57%.
Upcoming USDA Report
The USDA is set to release a new WASDE report on Monday, with expectations that wheat ending stocks will decrease by 5 million bushels to 896 million bushels.
