San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly and Richmond Fed President Tom Barkin Discuss the Real State of the Economy
In Conversation with Federal Reserve Leaders: Insights on the US Economy
I recently had the opportunity to speak with Mary C. Daly, President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, and Tom Barkin, President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. Our discussion focused on the current landscape of the US economy as we approach 2026.
We reflected on economic trends from previous decades, especially the 1970s and 1990s, to draw lessons about inflation and monetary policy that remain relevant today. Our conversation also addressed ongoing uncertainties in global politics and technological advancements, as well as the widening disconnect between economic indicators and public sentiment.
Together, we examined both the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the economy.
