New demonstrations break out in Iran amid rising concerns over intensified crackdowns
Widespread Protests Erupt Across Iran
Overnight, major cities throughout Iran witnessed large-scale demonstrations against the Islamic republic. On Saturday, January 10, activists voiced concerns that authorities were ramping up their crackdown on protesters, taking advantage of an internet shutdown to limit information flow.
These ongoing protests, now entering their second week, represent one of the most significant threats to Iran's theocratic leadership since the 1979 revolution. Despite this, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has remained defiant, attributing the unrest to interference from the United States.
After Thursday saw the largest gatherings so far, fresh rallies broke out late Friday, signaling the movement's continued momentum.
