German GDP expected to rise by 0.2% in 2025
Germany’s Economy Returns to Growth in 2025
Preliminary figures from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reveal that Germany’s price-adjusted gross domestic product (GDP) rose by 0.2% in 2025 compared to the previous year. When accounting for calendar variations, the nation’s economic output increased by 0.3%.
“Following two consecutive years of recession, Germany’s economy has started to expand again. This positive development is mainly driven by higher consumer spending by households and increased government expenditure,” stated Ruth Brand, President of the Federal Statistical Office, during a press conference in Berlin.
