AMD reaches cooperation agreement with Meta to deploy up to 6 GW of AMD Instinct™ GPUsForesight News reported that, according to an official AMD blog post, AMD has reached a definitive multi-year, multi-generation cooperation agreement with Meta to deploy up to 6 gigawatts of AMD Instinct™ GPUs. This collaboration is based on the AMD Helios rack-level architecture announced at the 2025 Open Compute Project Global Summit. The first shipments supporting a 1 gigawatt deployment are expected to begin in the second half of 2026, utilizing custom GPUs based on AMD Instinct MI450 and sixth-generation AMD EPYC™ CPUs codenamed "Venice," running ROCm™ software and built on the AMD Helios rack-level architecture. To further align strategic interests, AMD has issued Meta a performance-based warrant to purchase up to 160 million shares of AMD common stock. The structure of this warrant is such that it vests gradually upon the achievement of specific milestones related to Instinct GPU shipments. The initial shares will vest upon the first 1 gigawatt shipment, with subsequent shares vesting as Meta's procurement scale expands to 6 gigawatts.
