India's 10-year government bond yield falls back to around 7%
⑴ The yield on India's 10-year government bond has fallen back to around 7%, retreating from multi-week highs, as investors reassess recent global risk sentiment and the surge in oil price volatility. The yield had spiked sharply the previous week, briefly breaking above 7% amid heightened geopolitical tensions and oil prices soaring to multi-year highs.⑵ Brent crude oil remains near $108 per barrel, keeping inflation and fiscal pressures elevated in emerging markets. The bond market continues to be driven by tensions in West Asia, with supply and shipping risks causing rate volatility. After heavy sell-offs earlier this quarter, foreign investor flows have shown early signs of stabilization, providing some support.⑶ Nevertheless, traders expect yields to remain range-bound in the short term. Market participants are also awaiting key data such as PMI, factory orders, and trade figures to gain insights into growth and policy direction.
