Expansion during December contributes to another strong quarter of economic growth in the eurozone
Eurozone Private Sector Growth Continues for Twelfth Consecutive Month
According to the latest HCOB PMI® survey, private sector business activity in the eurozone increased for the twelfth month in a row as the year ended. This capped off the region’s most robust quarter of expansion since the second quarter of 2023. However, the pace of growth slowed to its lowest point since September, signaling that momentum faded as 2025 approached.
December saw demand for goods and services in the euro area rise more slowly, which acted as a drag on overall activity. Despite this, companies managed to reduce outstanding work at a quicker pace, and hiring picked up slightly. At the same time, input cost inflation accelerated.
