US CPI outlook: December inflation likely to remain subdued as economic indicators normalize
December CPI Report Anticipated
The latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) figures for December will be published on Tuesday morning. Analysts predict that inflation remained stable during the last month of 2025. According to Bloomberg, overall consumer prices are projected to have increased by 0.3% compared to the previous month and by 2.7% year-over-year in December. This annual rate would match November’s unexpectedly mild inflation reading.
When excluding the more unpredictable food and energy sectors, the "core" CPI is also forecast to show a 0.3% monthly rise and a 2.7% increase from the previous year. This would represent a modest change from the prior month’s figures.
