Galaxy Research Director: Iran's use of bitcoin for transit fees remains controversialGalaxy Research Head Alex Thorn analyzed on platform X that reports regarding Iran requiring ships to pay the Strait of Hormuz transit fee with Bitcoin have yet to be fully verified. The Financial Times reported that Iran plans to charge a $1 fee per barrel of oil and requests payment in Bitcoin, but Bloomberg stated that settlements could be made with stablecoins or the Chinese yuan. Citrini Research noted that some ships have paid through the unfreezing of Iranian overseas assets, and TRM Labs indicated there is currently no evidence that cryptocurrencies are being widely used for such payments. Alex Thorn believes that if verified, Bitcoin has the advantage of censorship-resistant payments, but large-scale on-chain or Lightning Network payments still face limitations. Galaxy Research will cross-analyze vessel AIS data with on-chain transactions to verify the relevant situation.

CITIC Securities: PPI turns positive as expected, the gap between PPI and CPI becomes the next key focusThe rise in crude oil prices amid the US-Iran conflict is the core driving force behind the PPI. The cumulative impact of the three major oil-related industries has contributed to a month-on-month PPI increase of approximately 0.6 percentage points. In addition, the non-ferrous metals and electronics industries have also provided strong price-increasing momentum. The year-on-year increase in March CPI was significantly lower than market expectations, and the notable month-on-month rise in energy sub-index prices failed to offset the downward drag from declines in food, tourism, and gold jewelry prices. If international crude oil prices remain high, profit growth of large-scale industrial enterprises in China may show a pattern of "first rising, then declining." It is recommended to continue monitoring the spread between PPI and CPI trends and the price transmission going forward.
