US SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce discusses regulation of perpetual contracts and prediction markets, emphasizing principles of self-custody and financial privacyChainCatcher News: U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Commissioner Hester Peirce shared her views on perpetual contracts, prediction markets, and the future of digital asset regulation, with an overall tone of optimism and openness. Hester Peirce reviewed the Rule 611 trade-through proposal, which has been in development for about 20 years, and pointed out that the so-called "innovation exemption" mechanism is intentionally designed to be strict and limited, in order to balance market innovation and investor protection. Hester Peirce stated that for new financial products such as tokenized securities, perpetual contracts, and prediction markets, a clearer regulatory framework should be adopted instead of simply restricting or applying vague regulation. She also emphasized two core principles: self-custody and financial privacy should become fundamental rights in future regulatory systems and should be incorporated into the subsequent design of digital asset regulation policies.
