Oracle's Data Center Spending Exceeds Expectations, Shares Drop Over 7% After Hours
On June 11, Oracle reported quarterly capital expenditures that exceeded expectations, raising investor concerns about the profitability of the company's AI infrastructure business. For the fiscal quarter ending May 31, the company's capital expenditures totaled $15.9 billion, bringing the total for the year to $55.7 billion, higher than Oracle's previous forecast of $50 billion. Oracle expects total revenue growth of 27% to 29% in the first quarter. The company anticipates adjusted earnings per share for the first quarter to be between $1.72 and $1.76, while the market expectation is $1.69. Oracle projects to raise approximately $40 billion through debt and equity financing by fiscal year 2027, which includes a previously announced $20 billion market-priced issuance plan.
