JPMorgan CEO warns that if stablecoins can pay interest similar to deposits, they could eventually collapse
ChainCatcher reports that JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon has issued a warning regarding the US crypto market structure bill, the CLARITY Act, stating that if stablecoin issuers are allowed to offer returns to users similar to bank deposit interest, such models could eventually collapse. Dimon said the Act would enable crypto companies to provide deposit-like returns to users through stablecoin accounts without proper regulatory protection, a scenario that the banking industry would not tolerate. He stated, "I am not concerned about stablecoins themselves, but if this happens, I will not participate, and it will eventually blow up." The CLARITY Act aims to clarify the regulatory framework for the US crypto industry and delineate responsibilities among regulators. Previously, Patrick Witt, Executive Director of the US Digital Assets Advisory Committee, stated that the Trump administration plans to push for the passage of the Act by July 4.

JPMorgan CEO warns: If stablecoins can pay deposit-like interest, they may eventually "implode"
BlockBeats News, on May 31, JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon issued a warning about the U.S. crypto market structure bill, the "CLARITY Act," stating that if stablecoin issuers are allowed to offer returns to users in a manner similar to bank deposit interest, this model could ultimately "implode." Dimon noted that the act allows crypto companies to provide users with returns akin to deposit interest through stablecoin accounts without the same regulatory protections, a situation that the banking industry would not accept. He said, "I'm not worried about stablecoins themselves, but if this happens, I won't be involved, and it will eventually implode." The "CLARITY Act" aims to clarify the regulatory framework for the U.S. crypto industry and delineate the responsibilities of regulatory agencies. Previously, Patrick Witt, Executive Director of the U.S. Digital Asset Advisors Committee, stated that the Trump administration plans to push for the bill's passage before July 4. However, Polymarket data shows the probability of the "CLARITY Act" passing within 2026 has fallen from nearly 70% to just over 50%.
