Bank of England hawk Greene: Market's reduction of rate hike bets is reasonable```htmlGolden Ten Data reported on April 15 that Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee member Greene stated that the market's reduction of rate hike bets is reasonable, and current pricing indicating two or fewer rate hikes this year is "roughly correct." Previously, as the Bank of England signaled its readiness to tackle inflation caused by the Iranian energy shock, swap pricing had pointed to more rate rises. Greene stated, “Almost no one is saying to me ‘we expect you to hike rates four times,’ which is what the pricing was at the peak. It has now come down from that level, and I think this is roughly correct.” Greene warned that even if the war ends immediately, the UK may still experience "waves of small inflation surges" in the coming months. Businesses have already been impacted by rising energy prices, but consumers will only feel the pressure after the price cap adjustment in June. Disruptions to fertilizer supply could push food prices higher in six months. She is concerned that the rise in energy prices will make inflation more persistent. Although there is significant slack in the labor market, making a second-round effect like in 2022 unlikely, the central bank will need a long time to gather conclusive data. "There won’t be clear evidence within a few months, and by the time it appears it will be too late," she said.```

Or influenced by "the US and Iran considering extending the ceasefire agreement", the Nasdaq's gain expanded to 1%.BlockBeats reports that on April 15, according to Bitget market data, possibly impacted by the news that "the US and Iran are considering extending the ceasefire agreement by two weeks", the Nasdaq's gains expanded to 1%, the S&P rose 0.4%, and the Dow fell over 0.3%. According to Bloomberg, citing informed sources, the United States and Iran are considering extending the ceasefire agreement, set to expire next Tuesday, by two weeks to allow more time for peace talks. Mediators are working to arrange technical meetings to resolve the most contentious issues, including reopening the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's uranium enrichment. If successful, these talks could pave the way for another round of negotiations between senior officials of the two countries. However, other informed US officials have indicated that there is currently no guarantee the ceasefire will be extended, and the US has not yet agreed to the proposed arrangements. Some sources also stated that neither the US nor Iran wishes to restart the conflict.
